LOCAL ELECTIONS 2009: Here's your full results service

KEEP up-to-date with our minute-by-minute coverage of this year's county council elections - as we provide you with the very latest results from all our local seats.

Voters went to the polls yesterday across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire as Labour battled to hold onto power of both authorities - two of only four they control nationally.

Click here to see our live Election Centre for coverage of the results along with a map of the wards as they are won - and live Tweets from the counts by our reporters.

The first Chad area result came in at 11.10 from the South Normanton East and Tibshelf ward, Labour Councillor Clive Moesby holding his seat.

In the Derbyshire wards in the Chad area, Labour's vote held up well as they retained many seats but they lost overall control in the county -

Throughout Nottinghamshire, Labour's position looked equally precarious as Yvonne Woodhead and Andy Freeman lost their seats in Blidworth and Rufford to independent candidates Geoff Merry and Les Ward, respectively.

In Ashfield, Council leader David Kirkham lost his seat to Liberal Democrat Fiona Asbury in Sutton West to follow in the steps of Yvonne Davidson, who lost to Lib Dem Rachel Madden. Selston Area Independent Gail Turner took the ward previously held by Labour's Joan Taylor, who stepped down before the election.

And Mansfield headed the same way after June Stendall and Victor Bobo took West Mansfield for the Independent Forum from Labour candidates John Carter and Paul Henshaw and fellow Independents Stephen Garner and Tom Appleby claimed Mansfield South from Labour's Albert Haynes and David Harrison.

The only success for Labour in Mansfield came for Joyce Bosjnak and Parry Tsimiridis in Mansfield North. John Allin retained his seat at Warsop.

And it got worse for Labour when heavyweights Chris Winterton and Helen Holt both lost their seats to the Independents - Bob Cross and Martin Wright- in East Mansfield.

Stay with www.chad.co.uk today for up to the minute coverage of the results as they come in - with digital content manager Tom Pegg reporting from Nottingham's County Hall, political reporter Helen Lambourne from Mansfield Civic Centre and Ashfield reporter Catherine Allen from Hucknall Leisure Centre.

Turnout for the elections in Mansfield was: East Mansfield 31.34%, West Mansfield 30.21%, Warsop 30.62%, North Mansfield 32.19% and South Mansfield 32.02%.

Turnout for Ashfield was: Kirkby South 40.51%; Selston 43.5%, and Sutton West 33.18%.

Labour currently controls Nottinghamshire County Council with 35 councillors, the Conservatives have 26 and the Liberal Democrats five. There is also one independent member.

A swing of 6.4 per cent would see the Tories seize control from Labour.

In neighbouring Derbyshire, Labour has 37 councillors to the Conservatives 15. The Lib Dems have 10 seats, while there is one independent councillor.

Political commentators believe Labour's 23-seat lead over the Tories gives them a good chance of retaining power - although the Conservatives are confident of a strong showing.
