Land Rover driver could hold clue to Tickhill crash
POLICE have issued a further appeal to the public to help find the driver of a black hatchback which they suspect caused a serious car crash.
A 35-year-old Carlton man is fighting for his life after the collision on the A60 near Tickhill on Friday afternoon (25th January 2013), and three others were injured.
Officers would also like to speak to the driver of a dark coloured Land Rover Freelander, or similar vehicle, which stopped briefly at the scene.
At around 4.38pm a blue Peugeot 206 was travelling south on the A60 Worksop Road from Tickhill towards Oldcotes.
Another car, a grey Citroen Picasso was travelling in the opposite direction.
It is thought a black hatchback car overtook the Picasso and pulled back onto the correct side of the road.
The actions of the hatchback are believed to have caused the Peugeot to lose control and go across the road into the path of the Picasso.
The Peugeot driver, a 37-year-old man from Carlton, suffered a broken leg and is being treated in hospital, while his passenger, a 35-year-old man from Carlton near Worksop sustained life-threatening injuries.
He remains in a critical condition in Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital with a fractured spine and a bleed on the brain.
The Picasso driver, a 75-year-old man from Conisborough, Doncaster, suffered broken ribs. A 78-year-old woman also in the car suffered a fractured breast bone. Both were treated at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
Police urgently want to trace the driver of the small black hatchback, make unknown, that was reportedly involved in the collision.
They believe it was travelling from the direction of Oldcotes towards Tickhill at the time of the collision.
Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of this vehicle or any witnesses to the collision should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 690 of 25th January 2013.
