Snow in Worksop January 2013 and the big thaw begins
A BLANKET of snow has covered Bassetlaw, bringing many people a day off work or school.
For some, the slippery conditions were an inconvenience. But others embraced the deluge and headed outdoors for some frosty fun.
Families spent hours sledging on the slopes all around Worksop and Retford.
Runners and walkers braved the elements to get their exercise fix.
And various characters were immortalised in the shape of snowmen in gardens and parks.
Our photographers captured beautiful scenes as our favourite landmarks were surrounded by snow.
Worksop Priory, Clumber Park, Memorial Avenue and the Canch Park all looked glorious in the bright white stuff.

Rufford Abbey and Sherwood Forest country parks were open to the public today (Monday) but there were no catering or retail facilities open.
The parks have reported six inches of snow which rangers are busy clearing.
Notts County Council’s gritting teams were out all last night treating the county’s main roads.
And with temperatures predicted to drop as low as minus 9 deg C on Monday night they are continuing to treat roads throughout the day.
Highways service director Andy Warrington said the teams were out all last night from 6pm to 5.30am gritting all A and B roads as well as major bus routes.
Around 13 schools and nurseries were closed on Monday. Transport for people who use the council’s day services were cancelled and some libraries closed early.
Some youth clubs and youth buses were also cancelled.

Bin collections were also suspended across Bassetlaw on Monday.
Bassetlaw Council decided it was unsafe to collect from many untreated roads, but said it hoped normal service would resume as soon as possible.
Residents are advised to leave their wheelie bins out for collection and the council’s refuse teams will endeavour to collect them at the earliest opportunity.
If conditions persist and bins can not be emptied promptly, any extra bags left at the side of the bin will also be collected when roads are passable.
The authority apologised for any inconvenience, but said refuse collectors had been redeployed maximise manpower, clearing car parks, paths and approaches to major health centres in the district.
