Hospice receives £3,000 boost from fish shop

PAPA Fish's restaurant in Worksop presented a cheque of just over £3,000 to Bassetlaw Hospice.

The fish and chip shop on High Hoe Road raised the money by donating a whole days takings, from when it opened at 11am to closing time at 10pm, and holding a raffle.

The staff worked for free, also donating their wages to the cause.

Ian Hall, of Bassetlaw Hospice, spoke of how grateful he was of Papa’s manager Syd Papaacaoullas’s kind donation.

“We’ve never had something like this before, we hope people get behind the event and enjoy themselves and help out the hospice at the same time.” he said.

Syd Papaacaoullas was more than happy to help out this fantastic cause, he said.

“We had a brilliant day with absolutely fantastic support from the public, especially local businesses. It was a pleasure to do and I enjoy giving something back.” he said.

There are also plans to do future events like this, and Syd says if there was a worthwhile cause he would be more than willing to consider some more fundraising.
