Hall rebuild is a dream come true

A NEW village hall in Treswell will mark a dream come true for the community who have worked 'tirelessly' to raise funds.

Everything is now set for work on a 341,000 project, which is being funded with support from the BIG Lottery Community Buildings fund, the Waste Recycling Environmental Landfill Community Fund, and Wilkinson Stores, with the remaining funding from local fundraising events and activities.

Albert Light, the committee’s treasurer and project leader, said: “A new hall has been a long held dream for the villagers, who have worked extremely hard to raise a lot of money towards the project.”

”We have done well to compete for the funding against hundreds of other village halls across the county.”

The new hall will take advantage of naturally heated water taken from deep bore halls to save on energy use and costs.

Grant funding has also been secured from the Government’s Low Carbon Building Programme to support the cost of the new installation.
