Rotherham Council is asking council housing tenants to be vigilant as forecasters warn sub-zero temperatures could continue into the weekend.

Housing partnering manager Richard Sutton said: “During spells of extremely cold weather, particularly when we have a number of days with sustained minus temperatures like this week, it is possible for either your boiler or water pipes in your home to freeze.”

“This may lead to broken boilers or burst water pipes once they have thawed.”

Residents can also help by keeping a close eye on their neighbours during bad weather. If you are worried about an elderly or vulnerable neighbour call the council on 01709 336040.

For general and emergency council housing repairs call 01709 336009.
