Bingo! Fundraisers' help for good cause

KIND-HEARTED bingo players in Ordsall have raised hundreds of pounds for a local good cause.

The Bonanza Bingo players recently presented a cheque for 500 to the Lincs and Notss Air Ambulance.

A total of 200 came from bingo members, while the other 300 was raised in lieu of gifts for member Valerie Barr’s birthday.

Mrs Barr, of Newlands, Ordsall, said: “When we started the bingo last July my nephew Carl Cooper funded it.”

“We said that if there was any excess money we would give it to a charity.”

“We raised 200, and then it was my 70th birthday. I had a big party and instead of having presents I asked people to make a donation to the air ambulance funds.”

The Bonanza Bingo players meet on Tuesdays and Fridays at Ordsall Community Centre from 7pm-9pm. Doors open at 6.30pm.

The group is currently searching for a new charity to support.
