Alcoholic gets a night in cell

THREATENING to break a window got a Worksop alcoholic a bed for the night after he went to the police station in search of somewhere to sleep.

Daniel Wilson, of Pelham Street, admitted disorderly behaviour at the Potter Street station because he found himself without accommodation on 6th November.

Jane Ball, prosecuting, said: ”He was in court on Friday and later went back to the police station saying that he wanted to be locked up. If not, he was going to go and break a window.”

David Grant, defending, said: ”I will give him his due. He tells it like it is. He walked into the station and said could I stop in a cell.”

”They said that he would have to commit an offence. He said ‘What if I break a window?’”

Wilson, 30, also admitted breaching his anti-social behaviour order not to enter the town centre at a hearing before Worksop magistrates on Monday.

He spent three nights in custody since his arrest on Friday and was fined 60.
