A Worksop youngster raised over £650 last weekend in a fundraising effort that saw her selling cakes and running games on the town’s market.
Manton’s Jessica Mcglone was raising money in aid of the ‘Make it Better’ day - a Sheffield Children’s Hospital initiative to support the hospital where she has undergone several operations since birth.
Nine-year-old Jessica, who attends Ryton Park School, was joined by her family on the stall and collected cash by holding a raffle, cake sale, guess the weight of the cake, the name of the bear and the number of sweets in the jar.
“A big thank you to everyone who donated to the cause or helped out,” said Jessica’s mum, Heather. “And a massive thank you to the people of Worksop for their kind generosity.
“We must also thank Bassetlaw Council for supporting the fundraiser and providing a stall at the last minute.”
Make it Better Day was launched by the charity’s patron and cricketing legend Michael Vaughan.
