A NEW dental practice in Retford has been overwhelmed by patients in its first few weeks of opening.
Over a thousand patients requested appoinments at DenTall22 on its first day of opening in February.
Just a few weeks later the practice on Chapelgate has almost 3,000 patients.
“The first few days were chaotic as the telephones never stopped ringing and there was a stream of patients calling in at the practice,” said manager Sarah Burton.
“However, we had expected a large number of patient applications so we had plenty of staffing resources and managed to meet demand.”
Adam Walker, one of the principal dentists, said: “We were delighted that we could meet the dental needs of so many patients.”
“We already have three dentists working and a therapist but to meet the requirements of patients we will have two additional dentists and another therapist at the beginning of April.”
“We also have qualified oral health educators and dental radiographers to assist with the workload.”
Michael Naylor, who is also a principal dentist, believes that high quality dental care and the commitment to the prevention of dental disease, particularly in children, will improve oral health for all in the community.
Prospective patients are urged to contact the practise as soon as possible in order to ensure a place.
