THE Amish of Pennsylvania were the subject of the latest talk to Gainsborough and District Ladies Luncheon Club.

Shelagh Johnston visited an Amish farm while working in the USA and she has been fascinated ever since.

The movement was started in the mid 1600s by William Penn in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

Amish communities still live a simple life without electricity, cars, television, computers and modern gadgets which we consider essential.
