TWO historical maps of north Notts have been published.

Alan Godfrey Maps has published maps of West Retford and Babworth from 1884 and East Retford from 1884.

These two new maps will be of great interest to anybody interested in the history of Retford and north Notts.

The two maps, which link up with each other, give a very detailed picture of Retford and are taken from the earliest large scale Ordnanace Survey maps for the town.

The fine details includes buildings, railway tracks, cranes, signal posts and even the garden layout for some larger houses, plus much more.

On the reverse there is an 1891 commercial directory, listing the businessesbased in Retford at the time.

Each map includes an introduction to its history, written by Barrie Trinder, acknowledged as one of the country’s leading experts on local history.

The maps costs £2.50 each and are available through our website at www.alangodfreymaps.co.uk.
