A HARWORTH primary school has scooped first place in the Helping Hands Award scheme.
Set up by Notts Police the awards encourage pupils to identify issues affecting their communities and come up with solutions to the problems.
The pupils submitted their findings to the judges, who announced the winners last week.
All Saints Primary School took first place after setting up a speed watch initiative to tackle speeding outside their school.
The class of six pupils worked to devise ways to improve the safety of the road.
They were awarded £1,000, which they plan to use to buy child-shaped bollards to place outside the school to discourage speeding.
