The daughter of a former Bassetlaw Hospital patient thanked “caring and compassionate” staff by nominating A5 ward for a Guardian Rose.
Retford resident Denise Payne gave the Rose to staff at the ward, giving heartfelt thanks for their care and support of her late father.
Presenting the Rose to ward manager Tracy Lodge, Ms Payne said: “My father was on A5 and my family just wanted to thank everybody for the care and compassion that they showed us.”
“They were fantastic and should be proud of themselves, I couldn’t fault the care they gave my father and they were so helpful.”
“The NHS gets a lot of bad press and I feel care like this should be recognised - it was the least I could do.”
Ms Lodge said the ward were pleased to receive the award.
She added: “Me and my staff are really honoured to be nominated, everybody puts in a lot of hard work and it’s nice to be recognised.”
“I’ve got a great team here - I try to give the sort of care that I would want for me and my family, and everyone on the ward has embraced the same idea.”
“I’m just honoured that someone would go out of their way to do something nice for the team like this.”
An emotional Ms Payne told ward staff that her family would also be looking to make a donation to the ward in the near future.
