The award-winning world champion Cantamus Girls Choir will be joined by their training choir when they appear at The Crossing next week.

Both choirs will be performing at the Worksop venue on Saturday 12th May at 7.30pm.

Founded by the doyenne of girls’ choral singing Pamela Cook MBE in 1968 and still directed by her, the Cantamus choir with its near-professional mature sound has reached dizzying heights in the UK and international choral world. The girls have taken part in more than 30 overseas tours.

Twice BBC Choir of the Year, twice gold medallists in the World Choir Olympics, Choir of the Year at the Llangollen Eisteddfod, the choir has appeared on numerous radio and TV broadcasts such as ‘Songs of Praise’, BBC Breakfast and ‘The Golden Girls’, a BBC documentary of the Cantamus award-winning tour of China.

In addition to participating in the BBC Proms in London and Wales, the choir has sung with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Halle Orchestra, the Academy of Ancient Music and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra in the Royal Albert Hall, the Barbican and Royal Festival Hall in London, the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester, Harrogate International Centre and the Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham.

The Worksop event will feature 44 main choir singers aged 13-19 and 32 young singers aged from nine upwards who form the current Cantamus Training Choir.
