West Lindsey District Council has scooped a Gold Achievement Award in recognition of the management of its address information database.

It was presented at the GeoPlace Exemplar Awards 2015, which celebrates excellence in service delivery.

The award is given to authorities that reach the highest standard in national tests on data excellence and supplying of regular updates to the national hub which manages receipt of address data from all authorities in England and Wales.

Neil Silley, Senior National Address Data Manager, said: “West Lindsey District Council has achieved the highest standard of address information data management. Achieving this level demonstrates excellence and commitment to a process that brings local and national benefits.

“It is one of only two authorities in the East Midlands to not only achieve the Gold standard but maintain it for at least 10 out of the 12 months, during 2014/15.”

West Lindsey District Coun Owen Bierley, chair of the Prosperous Communities Committee, said: “To be recognised for management of residents’ information and the diligent monitoring of reporting to a secure central database is great news for the council and its residents. Those who live in the district look to us to make sure their information is up to date and protected.

Vicki Stevens, Local Land and Property Gazeteer Officer at the council creates and updates postal address information which in turn is updated into the Local Land and Property Gazeteer.

She said: “This means that accurate postal address information is maintained across the board with Council Tax, Electoral Registration, delivery and emergency services, which means we’re able to identify properties quickly and efficiently. This award is a great recognition of that.”
