Traffic came to a standstill in Worksop this morning (Tuesday 21st May) after an elderly man was hit by a car.
The 65-year-old pedestrian had been crossing Bridge Place, near the Waterfront bar, when he was struck by a private hire taxi.
It happened just before 9am.
An ambulance attended to check the man over and took him to hospital.
Police at the scene said he was ‘shaken and bruised’.
“There were plenty of people around at the time and we have taken witness statements,” said PC Ben Collins.
“We will also use CCTV to determine what happened.”
“The taxi driver has been spoken to and breathalysed, with no issue there at all.”
Drivers faced delays as emergency services worked at the scene.
But traffic was flowing again by 9.15am.
