Ranby youngsters are on track

PROFESSIONAL athletes visited pupils at Ranby House School who were taking part in sponsored activities.

Olympic hopeful and senior and junior triple jump champion Laura Samuel together with 800 metre runner Charlotte Best joined youngsters when they were doing the Sports For Schools challenge.

The pupils took part in four different sports activities during the course of the morning.

However the real excitement came when Laura gave a demonstration of her skills in the triple jump to the whole school and staff.

Some of the money raised as part of the challenge will got towards the school which has decided to donate the cash to the Cedar Foundation, which assists in the provision of quality, community-based care for disadvantaged children and young people in Bulgaria.

The remainder of the money will be received by Sports for Schools, who make contributions towards the training costs and resources for young hopefuls working towards the London 2012 Olympic Games.
