Celebrations were the order of the day at Outwood Post-16 Centre in Worksop after a spectacular batch of A-level and AS-level results.

The centre saw A-level results climb to an all-time high pass rate of 99 per cent, well above last year’s national average of 97.8 per cent.

The percentage of Outwood students gaining A* or A grades also increased by 10 per cent and those gaining grades from A* to C also rose by over 15 per cent.

“I’m absolutely over the moon, these results represent an incredible amount of hard work by both the students and the staff and days like this make it all worthwhile,” said principal Elaine Hamilton.

“Twenty-two of the 25 A-level subjects offered at the centre achieved 100 per cent pass rates. What a superb achievement.”

One of the star performers was Worksop lad Liam Rodgers, who gained three A* grades in philosophy, sociology and his extended project and is going to read philosophy at the University of Warwick. “I’m ecstatic, this was far beyond what I was predicted and I’m just so happy that it’s all come through,” he said.

Another student who was pleasantly surprised was Isobelle Jefford, who got two A* grades and an A in psychology, maths and English literature and is now off to Cambridge to read psychology. “I’m really shocked because right up to the last minute I thought I’d failed,” she said.
