I am very happy to say that soon I might be sitting down to eat some humble pie.

A few weeks ago in my column I suggested that if I was a betting man I wouldn’t wager on the plans for the former Vesuvius site ever happening.

Well, just a few weeks later and I am preparing to start wiping the egg off my face.

The plans - which could create up to 1,000 jobs - has now been given the green light and is now closer than ever to seeing the light of day after years of wrangling.

There’s still a long way to go, but it now feels like a massive hurdle has been cleared for these plans that will give Worksop a much needed boost.
