JUBILEE celebrations are set to go off in style at Richmond Park this June thanks to a cash boost from West Lindsey District Council.

The special party on Sunday 3rd June will feature a hog roast, disco, bouncy castle, entertainment and a huge celebration cake.

Organisers, The Friends of Richmond Park, are delighted to have been awarded £1,000 to help pay for the event.

The money comes from the council’s £50,000 Olympic and Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Fund, which offers community groups up to £1,000 towards running their own parties.

Group chairman Brenda Mills said: “We wanted to put on a street party to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, but we have agreed to hold it in the safety of Richmond Park.”

“We are so grateful to WLDC for the grant, which has enabled us to hold this event. We hope the residents of Gainsborough and surrounding area will come join us on the day.”

More than 15 volunteers have given up their time to help things run smoothly.

And a Jubilee tree will be planted, and a plaque put up to commemorate the event.

Coun Judy Rainsforth, who represents the Gainsborough area, said she was delighted to hear the group had been successful.

“What better way to bring the community together than by hosting a party in the heart of the town,” she said.

“I am delighted that the council has been able to support this group, who put forward this fantastic idea. I wish them all the best and hope we have some good weather.”

Jubilee celebrations at Richmond Park, on Morton Terrace, will be from 12 noon until 4pm on Sunday 3rd June.
