Young people across Bolsover are being encouraged to make the most of the summer by taking part in a series of free ‘street sport’ activities being organised by the district council.

The events are designed to provide opportunities and entertainment for the area’s young people over the long summer holidays, urging them to get out and stay active rather than staying in online.

The sessions are aimed at young people aged 8-19, and focus on an active and healthy lifestyle, new friends and learning new skills.

Qualified community sports coaches attend and set up the activities and sports young people choose to play.

Participants will also be given the chance to enrol for leadership qualifications that may lead to a career in the leisure industry.

Clowne Sports Centre hosts a session at 7pm every Thursday, and the village will see an additional session from 31st July-4th September at 7-9pm on Wednesdays on Clune Street.

Fridays from 4-6pm throughout August will see sessions held at Whitwell Rec, while on Fridays between 2nd August and 4th October, Creswell Model Village will host activities from 7-9pm.

All sessions are free and do not require booking.
