THE misery continued for Retford United’s players on Saturday when their mobile phones and money were stolen.

The team were playing play-off hopefuls Bradford Park Avenue when the theft took place from the changing rooms at the Horsefall Stadium.

A Retford club official said “The season has been one to forget on and off the field, cumulating in our relegation, this is the last thing the players wanted at the end of a difficult campaign.”

“The players have given their all throughout the season and it’s awful that they have to suffer this at this level of football.”

The relegated team went on to lose the match 2-0.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman confirmed that they had been called to the ground.

“We were called on Saturday afternoon to reports of thefts from the changing rooms at the Horsefall Stadium.”

“Money and a number of mobile phones were taken.”
