A teenager who took scrap metal from garden of a Worksop house must stay out of trouble for the next year.

Thomas Doyle, 19, of Manton Crescent admitted theft by finding when he appeared at Worksop Magistrates’ Court.

Prosecutor Ruth Snowdin said Doyle and another man were seen entering the garden and taking a cement mixer, wheel barrow and other scrap metal worth £410.

They later sold them to a scrap metal dealer.

In mitigation the court heard Doyle, a construction student, thought the items were unwanted and was under the impression they had permission to take them.

Doyle was given a 12 month condition discharge.
