Police are urging drivers to lock their cars after a spate of thefts in the Retford area.

Sergeant Karl Hagland said they have had 24 incidents in the last three weeks - most of them involving unlocked cars.

“Please lock your cars and don’t leave anything on display. It doesn’t matter how little the items cost, just a few pence can attract a thief, even small change is being targeted,” he said.

If possible officers advise that you keep your glove box open to show there is nothing inside. Try to leave your car in a locked garage or in a well lit place and remain vigilant.
