A RETFORD company has raised over £2,200 competing in a charity boat race.

Carley Consult Ltd took part in the Doncaster Dragon Boat Challenge and managed to raise a fantastic amount for MacMillan Cancer Support.

Under the team banner of The Pirates of the Carleybean, they competed against other local businesses in three qualifying races at Lakeside in Doncaster.

Sadly their rowing technique was not quite up to the task and they finished in 18th place out of the 20 teams.

Jim Carley, managing director of Carley Consult, said: “This has been a great event in bringing our team together and doing something a little bit different.”

“It was great that everybody was up for the challenge, and the fact that we have been able to support a very worthy charity such as MacMillan Cancer Support at the same time is something we are very proud of.”

The company’s fundraising page is still active, and it’s not too late to sponsor them. If you are able to make a contribution visit www.justgiving.com/carley-consult.
