Towns and cities up and down the country will be coming together to help mark the Queens 90th Birthday.

And Gainsborough is no exception and the town will show its appreciation for our monarch as she celebrates her birthday with a ceremonial lighting of the town’s beacon, which is located behind the West Lindsey Leisure Centre in The Avenue, Gainsborough.

The Queen herself will light the first Beacon at Windsor to give the signal to start a chain of fire Beacons up and down the country on Thursday, April 21.

A short ceremony will take place between 7pm and 7.30pm and the Beacon will be lit at 7.30pm.

The event will be attended by local dignatories and all members of the public are also very welcome to attend.

Members of Gainsborough District Scouting Assocation will also be there at the ceremony along with Edward Baldock Bugler who will lead tributes with a rendition of Happy Birthday at the event.
