A RETFORD fish and chip shop is hoping to raise a large portion of cash for charity.

JM Fish Diner will be donating money to the British Heart Foundation, for every fish and chip meal sold during National Chip Week - 21st-27th February.

Owner John Massey said that for every fish and chip meal sold 20p will be donated and 10p for every mini fish and chip meal sold.

“We just thought we would do our own little something to mark the occasion,” he added.

“It’s a good time of the year. The doom and gloom and dark nights are almost behind us. There is nothing better than traditional fish and chips. They are full of the feel good factor and are a pick me up.”

“We’ll be donating money for every portion sold, day or night in the restaurant and takeaway.”

John said the shop had decided to donate the cash to the British Heart Foundation because it was a charity close to their hearts.

National Chip Week is run by Potato Council. Potato Council supports the potato industry, and is funded by potato growers, purchasers, processors and is a division of the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board.
