THE bishop of Southwell and Nottingham braved the elements when he went on a 30-mile prayer walk for five days across the county.

The Rt Revd Paul Butler set out from one of the most northerly point of the diocese near Robin Hood Airport.

He then walked to Bawtry market place before visiting Harworth Church of England Primary and Harworth.

“The prayer walks I have done in the past have been a fantastic way to see the area, meet people and walk alongside others where they are and pray for the people and communities on the way,” he said.

Other highlights on the trip included walking with Retford Ramblers and Clay Cloggers from North Leverton to Clarborough and visiting various schools including Retford Post-16 Centre and St Anne’s Primary in Worksop.

He also visited the Queens Building in Worksop where he met Bassetlaw Council chief executive David Hunter and council chairman Coun David Challinor.
