Bassetlaw MP John Mann has joined forces with the Ramblers, Britain’s walking charity, to protect walking routes and promote walking.
Last week the Bassetlaw MP attended a meeting in Parliament organised by the charity to discuss new plans to improve access to walking routes.
“As a keen walker myself I am delighted to be working with the Ramblers to ensure that everyone can access our countryside by foot,” said Mr Mann.
“The benefits of walking to fitness and wellbeing are obvious, but more can be done to promote walking as an activity and to help people make the most of local routes.”
Nicky Philpott, Ramblers director of policy and campaigns, said: “We’d like to thank John Mann MP for joining us to talk about how we can build a walking Britain.”
“We are calling for the Government to help promote an active, healthy lifestyle, protect the places people walk and improve access to the outdoors.”
