John Mann MP has added his support to a wildlife campaign that has caught the imagination of the people of Bassetlaw.
The ‘Vote for Bob’ campaign features a squirrel mascot and aims to highlight the importance of nature to the UK.
John Mann MP said: “I am very pleased to back the campaign to push nature up the political agenda.”
“Whilst the use of a squirrel as a fictional politician has no doubt raised a smile in Bassetlaw, the issues the campaign raises are very important.”
“Over 50 percent of plants and animals in the UK are currently in decline- the number of hedgehogs for example has halved in the past 25 years.”
“I will continue to support the campaign and work in Parliament to push for further measures to protect animals and our natural environment.”
Only six percent of MPs have so far backed the campaign which is also supported by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.
