NORTH Notts Arena is to host an awards ceremony on Friday night to recognise the work of those helping to increase physical activity and improve health in Bassetlaw.
The Bassetlaw Health and Physical Activity Recognition Awards will reward 43 individuals and organisations for encouraging the district’s residents to be more active. Each nominee is to receive a framed certificate from the Bassetlaw Sport and Physical Activity Partnership.
The partnership is made up of 17 organisations and has been existence for just over two years.
In 2011 it has staged the second Race for Life event in Bassetlaw, developed the ‘Activate Bassetlaw’ challenge and provided Bassetlaw Dance in Town events in both Worksop and Retford.
Friday’s awards evening will feature displays from various groups involved in schemes across the district.
Helen Houghton, chair of the partnership, said: “The main reason for the event is to recognise people for the dedication and hard work they give towards creating opportunities for people in Bassetlaw to be physically active.”
“It’s great to have this opportunity to celebrate all this excellent work and recognise so many different people.”
