AN auction in Everton has raised £1,322 towards the refurbishment of a playground.

Around 100 people bid against each other during the auction at Everton Primary School on Saturday,

The event was hailed a great success by Everton Parent Teacher Association, which had organised the auction to raise funds for the refurbishment of the nursery playground.

“We were really surprised with how much we raised,” said Tonia Evers, PTA secretary.

“Although we were hoping to get a good amount we didn’t think people would be as generous as they were in the current climate.”

“It was great to see the community come together.”

“We had the Cheeky Monkeys playgroup, local residents, children, parents and teachers from the school and quite a few members of the WI.”

Lots ranged from a naked ironer to a night for two in a hotel.
