HERE is a run-down of responses from your councillors on what they are doing for you this month:
Councillor Glynn Gilfoyle, Notts County Council

Over the next four years I will be working on getting a new bus station for Worksop.
Ensuring that the Priory Church Gatehouse renovation programme is completed.
Ensuring
Manton gets a new Primary School.
Ensuring the Worksop Chubb is completed and meets the needs of the citizens of Bassetlaw.
Working with the Forestry Commission to provide an off road motorcycle track.

In the Short term
Having a meeting with the new administration at County Hall to see if they will continue to support Worksop Town Football Club achieve their goal for a new facility both financially and politically.

Chase up the various Building Better Community Bids I have submitted on behalf of my constituents from the Cleaning of the Cenotaph on Memorial Avenue to the upgrading of the footpath on Bracebridge and the number six cycle path and the road to the rear of Cavendish Road to name a few.

Working with the Portland School Children and St Augustine's Junior/ Infants and the Sure Start Centre to either upgrade an existing play area in the Kilton area or and find a new site.

Looking into the possibility of the Portland School adopting the roundabouts on the A57 BY PASS and looking how they can be made more attractive with the youngsters help. There are health and safety implications to this and I have asked officers to see how this can be done. I have already had tentative talks with the headteacher and he is in support.

Try to find out more detail about the plan to build on the Kilton Forest Golf Course.

I will be attending my first Police Authority meeting on Wednesday the 24th June at County Hall since my appointment and a Special full Council on the 25th June again at County Hall.

I will be opening the FIRST Gala in Kilton for a number of years held at St Augustine's School on the 27th of June which I and my local District Councillor colleagues have supported financially from our respective member initiative budgets.

I will be holding my surgeries on the first Saturday of the month at Manton Kingston road Community Centre from 10am until 11am and then go on my regular walk around the Manton Estate with Mr District Council Colleagues and the local beat manager if available.

On the second Saturday of the month 10:00am until 10:45am Kilton Forest Community Centre Larwood 10:45am until 12noon at the Rayton Spur Community Centre Kilton again with my District Council Colleagues and PCSO'S if available.

I will be attending both the Manton and Kilton Safer Neighbourhood groups

On the 7th July I will be attending the Queens Garden Party at Buckingham Palace.

On the 18th July I will be attending the Manton Gala

On the 19th July I am attending a brass band Concert and Strawberry fare at Westwood nursing home for the residents of the home and the pensioners of the area.

I will also obviously be dealing with my constituent's enquiries as I receive them.

This list is just a sample of the things I will be doing until I have been allocated my other committees both on the county council and the Police Authority.

Deputy leader of Bassetlaw Council, Terry Yates

Coun Yates sits of a number of boards as well as cabinet and in the next month says he will be meeting with the Sherwood Forest Trust, the Drainage Bpard which covered Worksop and Retford.
"Flooding of obivously a big issue locally," he said.
The Town Centre Partnership Board as well as cabinet meetings and meetings on finance and property.
"I also have around three parish council meetings which I go to every month for my ward," he said.
"I am working with parish councils to help them release funding for various projects. Most of the parish councils are short of funding. I am also helping them with issues like traffic and speeding.
"Last week I visited three people in their homes. Some wanting pre planning application advice. One a new business start up. And I saw a gentleman about a youth sports club.
"I probably spend four to five hours a week going to see people and trying to resolve their issues."
"In July or August time there is a planning application for Oldcotes for a travellers' site. I am working with the parish council and am going o speak on their behalf against it."

Councillor Carolyn Troop, East Retford South Ward

"I will be out and about in Ordsall as I have been doing for the last 22 years, since my constituents voted me in. I will be meeting them as I walk the Patch and taking forward any complaints/comments made to me about Council matters. I am one of the two District Councillors for Ordsall."
"Apart from general day-to-day matters I have spent a little of my Community Councillor Grant, this month on sponsership for the Retford Lions Charity Cycle Ride which was arranged to use the Westhill Community Centre as a base. I paid for the hire of the centre, from the Grant. A number of Ordsall residents enjoyed the event as I did, also.
"I live in the Patch and everyone knows that I am available to speak to either personally or over the phone, 24/7. I am contactable by email as well."
"Some of the issues that I will be working on for Ordsall will be involvement with the Safer Neighbourhoods Group for this area, helping Bridon Cricket Club, with their commitment to local cricket, commenting on residents behalf on any planning applications that they approach me on, discussing with Council officers improvements to the area's bottle bank area and scrutinising Cabinet decisions that affect the area of Ordsall."

Bill Barker, Councillor Worksop North

"I think it is very important that people have a greater awareness of the work that councillors undertake which relate to: council work (committees, scrutiny panels and council meetings), political party activities, work in the communuity (safer neighbourhood meetings, school governor and resident and tenant meetings) and following up concerns of residents in the ward. "
Over the next month:

1. I am attending the full council and will be asking a question about the funding of play facilities. I will attend the IT and Access Committee (2nd July) which discusses the council use of modern technologies and how to make information about council services more accessible. I will be attending three half day Appeals (July) in respect of discipline and grievance. I am waiting to attend the final meeting of the Scrutiny Panel which looked at the better use of allotments across Bassetlaw.

2. I will be attending a Labour Branch meeting (10th July) and hearing the views of members of the Party. I will attend the Labour Group Meeting (24th July) which discusses what decisions are being made in Cabinet and agrees how best to respond to this as a group. As Chief Whip I will also consider the attendance levels and find substitutes to other Committees when necessary.

3. I will be attending Gateford School where I am a school Governor. There is a Curriculum Sub Committee (23rd June) where we hear from the Head about the developments in the school and offer an opinion. I have supported the development of a PTA and will be attending the first fund raising event on 4th July. I will attend a Safer Neighbourhood Meeting (9th July) where we meet with the community police man and raise issues relating to crime and anti-social behaviour. I will be hearing from them about areas I have highlighted including Old Gateford Road and Valley Road. Last week (8th June) I submitted ideas about the support which A1 could give to the development of the Balmoral Centre including fencing, better signposting and a display board. I have recently been asked to contribute to the review of council garages and have given this (21st June) about those on Valley Road and Gateford Road and have emphasised that a thorough consultation involving users and those living close by should take place.

4. I hold fortnightly Surgeries (Ist Saturday of the month at Gateford Park School 11-12 and 3rd Saturday of the month at Balmoral Centre 9.30 - 10.30). I share these with the County Councillor. These are publicised and members of the ward can call in and tell us of any concerns. The most recent identified road sweeping and gutter cleansing as concerns. In addition, I continue to follow up concerns which are raised by people contacting me by phone, letter or email and am dealing with pavement subsidence, house repairs, anti-social behaviour, parking problems to mention a few. In addition, since October 2008 I have leafletted 1800 houses inviting residents to raise matters with me as part of an ongoing 'Roving Surgery'

Councillor Gill Freeman

In reply to your recent email to all councillors, Councillor Freeman would like to reply as follows.
I attend at least four District Council meetings per month on a regular basis along with any ad hoc meetings called and if I am asked to substitute for a fellow Labour Member.
Obviously there is a lot of reading involved with the committee side of things - reading and understanding reports so proper decisions are taken.
I am also a member of the Safer Neighbourhood Team, which meets regularly in partnership with the Police, County Council and District Council. This is a voluntary group. I also am a voluntary member of a sub-group of this Team which is trying to engage with the young people of Carlton and Langold to tackle alcohol and drug abuse.
I am also the Labour Group spokesperson for Leisure and so attend regular briefings with BDC Officers.
On the political side of things I am an Assistant Whip to the Labour Group.
I hold a surgery on the third Saturday of each month at Langold Library, 11am to 12noon to engage with any members of the public who need help, assistance and/or advice.
I am also Vice-Chairman of Hodsock Parish Council which meets every month. As the Parish Council is also a Burial Authority it is responsible for the local cemetery. This involves the Parish Council Members having to visit and inspect the graveyard monthly to keep it tidy and in good order. I am also a member of Neighbourhood Watch in Langold which I helped to set up.
Obviously these meetings run alongside all the telephone calls, emails and personal contact I have with members of the community which more often than not involves house calls no matter what day of the week it is.

Josie Potts, Bassetlaw councillor

I hold a surgery twice a month. When people turn up with problems, they are always dealt with right away. I also hold roving surgeries around the area with Glynn Gilfoyle and community policeman. I also walk around different areas of Manton with different problems.
How I react to problems, really depends on what comes up. I attend a Safer Neighbourhood surgery for people to talk about problems. The phone never stops and I often get stopped in the street when out and about. If I walk to work, people come out to me with problems. The door's always there for people to knock on. I'm currently dealing with a lot of problems with the Foresters pub in Worksop.
I work hard for Manton. On a Saturday night when I go to Manton Club, I take a notebook with me. It takes hours on a Monday morning to sort out the problems. People want to know how to bid for a property, people ask me about problems with anti-social behaviour. I make sure things get dealt with and addressed straight away. When there is an issue with street lighting, I'll always pick it up. If I see flytipping, I deal with it. Being a councillor is seven days a week, not just Monday to Friday.
I am passionate about looking after old people, you need to go to them as they can't come to you. I help senior citizens who need my help. I get money to serve the community and that's what I do.

Councillor Alan Rhodes, Worksop North East

A councillors work is rarely routine and the unexpected is often just around the corner (sometimes literally). It could be a call from a constituent with a particularly difficult problem to resolve, a call for a much needed local facility or help to launch or fund a new community group or a situation such as we had to deal with during the floods of 2007 which was something that few of us had experienced before. In each of these scenarios and many more besides, people turn to their local Councillor for assistance or advice.
So far this week (Tuesday) I have attended the Fly a Flag for our Armed Forces event in Worksop on Monday following which I went to County Hall where as Leader of the Labour Group of County Councillors I am required to attend regularly. I try to limit my time in Nottingham to a maximum of three days per week with the rest of the week (including weekends) in the areas I represent. I admit that this is not always possible. On Monday evening I attended the Bassetlaw Enterprise Board in Retford which assists new businesses to start up locally by awarding loans and/or grants.
On Tuesday morning I visited Prospect Junior School to talk to the Head about financial assistance towards a project that the school is undertaking. I spent much of the rest of the day visiting constituents to advise or assist with a range of issues concerning them from anti-social behaviour concerns to housing matters, or contacting Council officers to progress the issue.
I will be at county hall on Wednesday for meetings and again on Thursday when the Council receives its Annual Accounts, an important meeting for a muli-million pound organisation. I have a Labour Group meeting on Wednesday evening and a meeting of the District Councils Overview & Scrutiny Panel which monitors the activities of the Council on Thursday evening in Worksop. Friday takes me back to Nottingham for a Nottinghamshire Partnerships event. I will be making sure that Bassetlaw gets its fair share and is strongly represented at every such event.
On Saturday I have one of my Saturday morning surgeries which are held every Saturday morning for people to come to discuss issues of concern with me. I am also always on hand to speak to people on the phone if they wish to call me and I am always happy to visit constituents to discuss matters in their own home if they prefer. On Saturday afternoon I will be taking my wife and my parents to the Strawberries & Brass event organised by the Carlton in Lindrick St Johns Mothers Union, one of the many worthwhile community groups that I have been able to assist as a local councillor.
This is by no means an unusual week. Every week brings a plethora of meetings at which I do my best to represent my constituents and the interests of Worksop and the surrounding areas. I hold four Councillor Surgeries per month, I meet regularly with the police and officers of the District and County Councils and I visit establishments such as schools and care homes in the area I represent. With other Worksop Labour Councillors I will be putting pressure on the Conservative administration at County Hall for our new bus station and there are new projects that I want to get funding for to improve our local environment.
I was pleased to be asked to sit on the board of two excellent organisations, Hettys which supports the families of drug users and The Crossing which is a superb community facility in Worksop. Both boards meet regularly and the roles are voluntary. Until recently I was a School Governor but I had to give that up after over 20 years service due to time constraints.
Within the next month in addition to the meetings I referred to, I will be meeting with volunteers at the Gateway Centre in Carlton to discuss ways of assisting them, I will attend Parish Council meetings and Tenants Association meetings, summer fayres, a Stage Life event at the Regal featuring local Adults with Learning Difficulties; I also sit on the County Councils Fostering Panel which meets regularly. And then there will of course be the unexpected which will crop up and must be dealt with.
Being a councillor, entrusted to represent local people is an enormous privilege. The role should never be taken for granted. Councillors like me do what they do in order to make a difference and improve our community. After all, its the community that matters more than anything.

Worksop East Councillors' Work:

Councillors Entwistle, Scott and Wynne work very much as a team for the benefit of the people of Worksop East. Each of us currently have three or four pieces of work concerning confidential issues for individuals in our area sometimes our case work is more than this, very seldom is it less.
• As a team we are working to build a Conservatory at Larwood House so there is increase space for the Residents and people living in the Bungalow nearby to take part in community activities. We are working in partnership with the Worksop East Tenants & Residents association and our County Council colleague Glynn Gilfoyle on this project.
• We will be supporting the Kilton Summer Gala at St. Augustine's School.
• We are working on issues about Grass Cutting, Illegal use of motor bikes on the Golf Course, dog fouling and parking in residential areas all of which are cause for concern for the residents of our Ward
• We work in partnership, such as the with the police through the Safer Neighbourhood Group
• We support the work of the Worksop Tenants & Residents one us of usually attends a Beetle Drive organised by the T& R we do other things in support of the work of this organisation
• We share our monthly surgeries with County Councillors Glynn Gilfoyle these are held on second Saturday of each month.
• We work across different committee's to get an overall background on getting the best for the area.
• Cliff is on the A1 Housing Board and promotes Worksop East.
• John's work with a Local charity ensures that he comes in to contact with people in the Ward who may be experiencing difficulties.

• All three of are available by email and by phone or call at our homes we are here to serve the people of Worksop East

I have afforded the Worksop guardian every opportunity to ask me about my job including offering being shadowed by a reporter. This has been offered on more than one occasion. Bassetlaw Councillor Simon Greaves

This month I will be holding my regular councillors surgeries in conjunction with the ward County Councillor Alan Rhodes on the 3rd and 4th Saturday of the month.

I have been making representations to the Planning Department in order to ensure that all the green open spaces in my ward are recognised (as part of the process of establishing the local development plan) which will hopefully mean that they will be protected in future years.

I was due to attend a regular local Tenants and Residents Association meeting, but it had to be put back to July.

I have been raising questions about the reports to build houses on land at the Kilton Forest Golf Club Site, and about the roll of Bassetlaw Council in working with the Sheffield City Region (in order to estblish if there is any link etc).

I recently attended the Councils Overview and Scruitiny Committee meeting which focused on a number of interal audit reports, I raised a number of concerns about the Councils ability to manage projects effectively and deliver value for money for my ward constituents as a result of which further information is to be obtained to ensure that previous problems are not being repeated in current times.

I am also due to attend another meeting of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee meeting on Thursday. I will hopefully be able to attend the scheduled cabinet meeting on Thursday as an observer.

also, I will be attending the Councils next scheduled Full Council meeting.

As well as the above I have other ongoing work to linked to seeking to improve the quality of footpaths, as well as improve cleanliness etc.

Councillor Kath Sutton

"As usual I will be attending all three council meetings at Clarborough, Hayton and Clayworth and therefore being a focus point for any queries both from residents and parish councillors. I'll also be informing them of the financial help I can give to small organisations with the £1000 that every district councillor has been allotted. I, as every other councillor, have many personal queries to deal with every week from residents living in my ward"

Councillor Gill Freeman

I attend at least four District Council meetings per month on a regular basis along with any ad hoc meetings called and if I am asked to substitute for a fellow Labour Member. Obviously there is a lot of reading involved with the Committee side of things - reading and understanding reports so proper decisions are taken.

I am also a member of the Safer Neighbourhood Team, which meets regularly in partnership with the Police, County Council and District Council. This is a voluntary group. I also am a voluntary member of a sub-group of this Team, which is trying to engage with the young people of Carlton and Langold to tackle alcohol and drug abuse.

I am also the Labour Group spokesperson for Leisure and so attend regular briefings with BDC Officers.

On the political side of things I am an Assistant Whip to the Labour Group.

I hold a surgery on the third Saturday of each month at Langold Library, 11.00 a.m. to 12 noon to engage with any members of the public who need help, assistance and/or advice.

I am also Vice-Chairman of Hodsock Parish Council, which meets every month. As the Parish Council is also a Burial Authority it is responsible for the local cemetery. Obviously these meetings run alongside all the telephone calls, emails and personal contact I have with members of the community which more often than not involves house calls no matter what day of the week it is.

Councillor David Challinor

"I David Challinor Ward Councillor for Harworth, will be working to improve services in my ward over this next month. I will also be taking up health and safety issues, working with the Police to promote safer neighbourhoods, and working with the Town Council to promote a clean up after Dog Fowling campaign. I will also be handling A1 housing complaints e.g. Fencing, Grass cutting, and Visiting Fly Tipping areas. As of which working with the Town Council and Litter Busters, we seem to be winning a battle. Also holding monthly surgery, which is posted around the village, with dates and times."

Councillor Chris Wanless

"Over the following month, I will be attending all the usual council meetings. I am a Partner Governor of NHS foundation trust, as representative from the council. As young people's champion I will be working on a range of projects with young people, I am a trustee for focus on young people in Bassetlaw. I am currently working with Portland School on citizenship programmes and other projects. As portfolio holder for Revenues and customer services, I am working closely with officers and partners on issues and improvements. Over the next month I will be working with the local beat manager to set up a safer neighbourhoods group. In addition to my duties as councillor I also have my own business so will be fitting in some work where possible! Finally, I am always available, as are my fellow councillors in Worksop South, to answer/resolve queries and problems that local residents may have on an as-and-when basis."

Brian Hopkinson Councillor in Worksop South East

In addition to dealing with constituent enquires and resolving a number of problems I attend a number of meetings every month, such as planning and community meetings. Some of these are with Manton Community Alliance, which include the crime and safety meetings held monthly and board meetings, others involve sporting facilities available at Manton Colliery Athletic Club and the Centre for Sport & Learning. From these meetings I take away issues and complaints and help to resolve them.

For constituents, the majority of the complaints are relative to service providers i.e. A1 Housing, Bassetlaw District Council and Nottinghamshire County Council (highways problems). I provide opportunities for constituents to contact me by having surgeries, with the other two councillors for Worksop South East, these are held monthly at various locations. I also do community walk abouts with the local police and service providers and make any issues a priority for people in my ward.

Councillor. John Shephard

I will (as always) be available for the public to contact me at any reasonable time. I will be attending various council meetings in the evenings, community group meetings, etc - working with others for improvements in the quality of life for everyone in Manton and Worksop South East ward.

Councillor Graham Oxby

There are many varied issues in the day-to-day life of a Councillor and to single out any one issue would be difficult, however, I will list for you, not in any order of priority, but just to give you a flavour of what I am currently doing and will be doing in the coming weeks.

1. Following through an issue relating to playing field facilities in Hallcroft. I shall be attempting, with the help of others, to open a playing field site for the summer period for the children of Hallcroft to use.

2. Assisting and working with the Hallcroft Tenants and Residents Association with a multitude of queries, specifically A1's Decent Homes works and the progress that is being made. I will also be following through many other issues on behalf of the Association such as grass cutting, kerb dropping, dog fouling and anti-social behaviour.

3. I shall be responding to the numerous points put to me personally by letter and by telephone over the past seven days. These are no different to those I receive every week but again to give you some examples these include planning permissions, sale of land, housing benefit queries, housing waiting lists and speeding motorists. Again these are only a few examples.

4. This coming Saturday I shall be holding the regular Councillors' Surgery in Retford which is open for any resident irrespective of where they live to come and air their views or for help with a problem they may have.

5. I am looking to facilitate an extra Councillors' Surgery in a brand new Church building in Retford and I have made tentative enquiries already with Minister and his staff to see if this can be arranged.

I hope this gives you a snapshot of the work I am currently doing. As I said to Chris Burton the other day a Councillor is never off duty and the public rightfully expect their Councillor to be available to them when they require a Councillor. I even mentioned to Chris that last Friday night I went to see Paul Weller at an open air concert and even then I had a couple of approaches from people that knew me regarding Council matters. I dealt with them between The Jam and Style Council songs.
