Ranskill's annual scarecrow event and village festival attracted some unusual visitors this year, including an appearance from Santa.
The festival attracted hundreds of people, who came to see the scarecrows made by villagers.

Hilary Skelton, who is a member of the festival's organising committee, was delighted with the event.

"It was a great success, around 200 people attended the Picnic in the Park event on the Saturday evening, and even more people were there during the daytime," she said.

In total there were 90 entries in the scarecrow competition.
