A WORLD RECORD wine tasting event is being held at a Retford pub later this month.
Nigel Kirk, manager at The Dominie Cross on Grove Street, is staging the event as part of the pub's 19-day wine festival, which runs from Wednesday 21st May until Sunday 8th June.

It is one of 680 Wetherspoon pubs across the UK that is hosting the
synchronised wine tasting in an attempt to create a new Guinness World Record.

The wine tasting will take place at The Dominie Cross at 6pm on Wednesday 21st May and customers will be offered a free 50ml glass of wine.

"This is a great opportunity for people to be part of a Guinness World Record attempt," said Mr Kirk. "All they have to do is come to the pub and enjoy a glass of wine. The current world record stands at 5,100 tasters and I am confident that it can be beaten, with my customers playing their part."

During the festival, The Dominie Cross will be serving six new wines not previously available in the pub, which will complement up to 16 additional wines.

The new wines on offer include Sonoma-Cutrer Grand Cru Chardonnay 2006 (USA), Valpolicella Allegrini 2007 (Italy), and McLaren Vale Grenache Willunga 2006 (Australia).

They will be sold at £2.10 for a 175ml glass, £2.85 for a 250ml glass and £7.39 for a bottle.
