A CHOIR in desperate need of a new piano moved a step closer to their target with a crowd-pleasing May fundraiser.
The Village Harmony Singers delighted an audience at Sturton-Le-Steeple village hall with folk music from around the British Isles

Choir chairman Kath Milne is hopeful that the group will be able to buy the piano by October this year.

"Our piano is getting quite elderly and we want to buy a better one for the use of our choir and another Sturton choir, the Bel Canto, who also use the village hall on Brickings Way," she said.

"The show went really well and we were really pleased to raise about £450. We sang some Scottish and Irish folk songs."

"There has also been a lot of other fundraising events taking place, including a raffle and a table-top sale."

The fundraising target for the piano is about £1,500 and the two choirs hope to have it ready for Bel Canto choir's October show.
