It was cake all round as Retford bus station celebrated its first birthday.
The £1.4m bus station was opened to the public in July last year with facilities including a café, comfortable seating, passenger information, toilets and baby changing facilities.

Notts County councillor Stella Smedley, cabinet member for transport and highways, said this is a station to be proud of.

"The bus station at Retford has been open for a year now and I'm pleased to say that it has been a resounding success," she said.

"Passenger numbers have increased as people take advantage of the comfortable, safe and clean facilities that the bus station offers."

"Our dedicated staff are doing a wonderful job in providing travel information and keeping the bus station in first class order. If you've not used the bus station for a while I would urge you to come and give bus travel a go.

"The bus station represents significant investment in the town centre of Retford, which hopefully will act as a catalyst for further projects. A youth centre is currently being developed on a site immediately adjacent to the new bus station."

"The proximity of the two facilities will be mutually beneficial with young people being able to access the new centre using public transport and arriving at their destination safety and security," she said.
