Music legends New Order will be playing a special gig this summer at the iconic Jodrell Bank - and you could win tickets to be there.
Not only that, but the band will be supported by indie hero and former guitarist with The Smiths, Johnny Marr.
Located 20 miles south of Manchester, Jodrell Bank is a space observatory with a number of radio telescopes and is a Centre for Astrophysics. Reviewing a previous show in the Tranmissions Live From Jodrell Bank concert series, Guardian reporter Andrew Trendell said: “The spectacle of Jodrell Bank’s 76 metre high Lovell Telescope with psychedelic images of the universe being beamed onto its satellite dish is nothing short of beautiful.”
“The telescope is worth a visit alone – standing tall as an awe-inspiring feat of modern human achievement. We find ourselves in the rare situation where a band may be outdone by the venue itself.”
A Jodrell Bank spokesman said: “New Order have had profound influence on music.”
“Their shows last year were euphorically received as the band played a set of classic anthems including Bizarre Love Triangle, True Faith, Blue Monday and Temptation as well as a bunch of Joy Division favourites.”
New Order perform at Jodrell Bank on 7th July. Tickets are £39.50 and available from www.livefromjodrellbank.com/tickets.
