Penned by Don Evans, this critically-acclaimed Eclipse Theatre production follows the Harrisons who are the most respected middle-class black family in Philadelphia.

However, the arrival of their young niece and her new ideas from the rural south turns their polite, Christian suburban life on its head.

The Cosby Show meets Restoration Comedy in this hilariously outrageous play about how hard we try to hide who we really are.

Award-winning actor and comedian Jocelyn Jee Essien will take the role of Myra Harrison in this European premiere of the show.

Jocelyn made history as the first black female comedian to write and star in her own television series Little Miss Jocelyn for the BBC.

She was awarded a Black Entertainment Award and Best Newcomer at the Women in Film and Television Awards for the series.

Jocelyn said she is an avid fan of Eclipse Theatre’s work and jumped at the chance to work with director Dawn Walton on the project.

“As an audience member I have always found the company’s productions both thought provoking and entertaining,” she said.

“One Monkey Don’t Stop No Show is a brilliantly funny play and I think we’re going to have a great time in Sheffield, Eclipse’s new home, and on tour all over the country.”

The show runs from Saturday 10th to Saturday 24th September at the Crucible Studio Theatre.

Tickets are priced £10-£18 and can be purchased by visiting www.sheffieldtheatres.co.uk or by calling 0114 249 6000.
