WORKSOP’S St Luke’s Church is set to host a concert by the Whitwell Brass Band to help raise money for Christian Aid on Wednesday 25th May.
Families are welcome to enjoy an evening of local talent, refreshments and live music all for just £5.
The money raised from the concert will go towards supporting the work of Christian Aid to help communities around the world lift themselves out of poverty.
Organiser Peter Stanley said he was pleased.
“We have wonderful support from the people in our community for Christian Aid Week and we hope that the concert will provide an additional opportunity for us to show God’s love for those people across the world who live in poverty.”
Christian Aid Week takes place between 15th and 21st May.
The Whitwell Brass Band is based in the small village of Whitwell, in Derbyshire, and has been going for over 100 years, with its first concert held in 1904.
In 2009, they won the Midlands Fourth Section Championship, which qualified them to appear in the national finals, which had not been achieved for over half a century.
This is the first year that this Christian Aid Concert has been held.
The concert will take place at St Luke’s Church at 7.30pm. For tickets please ring (01909) 477391.
