Trio to showcase musical talents

Retford Little Theatre is pulling out all the stops ahead of an evening showcasing the talents of three gifted musicians.

Featuring pianist Martin Yates and classical violinists David Smith and Christian Halstead, visitors to the performance on Sunday 16th January at 7.30pm, are sure to be entertained.

David is well known in Retford from previous appearances and from his work over the last decade as lead violinist with the renowned Scarborough Spa Orchestra. Based in London, he has toured all over the world, he has played with some major orchestras, notably the London Mozart Players, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and currently the Orchestra of the Birmingham Royal Ballet.

Christian has just finished a season as leader of the orchestra for the famous Christmas Spectacular at Thursford in Norfolk. He is the son of Anthony Halstead, the world-famous horn player and conductor.

Martin Yates is well known locally as a musical director and accompanist. He is much in demand for his keyboard skills, and is the pianist of choice for Canada-based international soprano Michelle Todd.

Fiddles With The Keys will feature a varied programme of music for one and two violins, accompanied and unaccompanied.

The highlight of the first half will be a full performance of Bach’s ever-popular Concerto for Two Violins.
