Just like the Olympics, the Lincoln Mystery Plays are staged only every four years, with nine performances taking place at the heart of historic Lincoln this July.
From 10th-21st July, the ancient scripts will be given a contemporary edge with the assistance of fire artists, spectacular sound and lighting, digital imagery and other art forms.
A show spokesman said: “Taking the timeless truths of Bible stories and telling them with humour, dignity, solemnity and awe, the medieval art of Mystery Plays as entertainment for the masses continues to draw discerning audiences.”
“This year we begin our open air production at the Medieval Bishop’s Palace before taking a journey to the Cathedral Cloister for the power of the Passion after dark.”
Tickets for the 7.30pm shows are priced £13-£15 from Lincoln Drill Hall and can be booked at the Cathedral shop, online at wwww.lincolndrillhall.com or by calling 01522 873894.
There are no performances on 15th. 18th and 19th July.
Warm and waterproof clothing is recommended on the night. For more details about the shows visit www.lincolnmysteries.co.uk or www.lmp2012.co.uk.
