WIN tickets for tribute bands music festival
FOLLOWING its success at Ollerton, Fake Festivals continues its tour round the area and arrives at Retford on Saturday 11th July.
This time round headline acts include tribute bands Coldplace (Coldplay), Antarctic Monkeys (Arctic Monkeys) and local group Setting Sons (The Jam).
Fake Festivals founder Jake Lee said the festivals were a way of providing entertainment locally without charging too much in tough economic times.
"In this economic climate we all need something to look forwards to that is not over-priced," he said. "The festivals are aimed at local people who live in the community, bringing them quality entertainment right on their doorstep."
"We are the first touring music festival of its kind and the response to these local festivals has been amazing," he added. "People expect to be entertained but assume they have to travel long distances into cities to find that entertainment. Not now, as we bring the entertainment to the people!"
Aside from tribute acts, other local bands will be showing off their sets at this year's festival, including Serpentine, Stereo Syndicate, Propeller and Gaucho, while lookalikes mirroring David Brent, Del Boy and Roy Chubby Brown will be wandering the site.
Scott Liversidge, of Retford group Setting Sons, said the band was eager to take to the stage and make the town proud.
"We have such a huge back catalogue of Jam hits to perform, and we can't wait to get on that stage and give the locals something to sing along to whilst enjoying a day out," he said. "We performed at one festival last year which was fantastic, and we're doing three this year so we can't wait to get going."
Tickets for the event, which kicks off at 1pm, cost 15 for adults and 12 for children aged seven to 17, and can be bought from East Retford Rugby Club on Ordsall Road, Hallcroft News on Hallcroft Road, Trudy's Kitchen on West Carr Road and Ordsall Post Office and Londis Stores on Wesley Road.
Alternatively, tickets can be booked online at www.fakefestivals.co.uk, at a discounted rate but are only on sale up to a month before each festival, so customers are advised to buy them sooner rather than later.
Thanks to festival organisers however, the Guardian has two pairs of tickets to give away to readers.
