WIN a night's stay at Browns luxury B&B

THE ANSWER to finding local luxury at an affordable price is not a million miles away, with this week's competition in The Guide.

We have teamed up with Browns Bed and Breakfast of Holbeck to offer one lucky couple the chance to spend a night in the venue's top lodge – complete with super king– size four–poster bed, full ensuite facilities and beautiful garden views.

The Michelin Guide-featured, Grade II accommodation is named after hosts Joan and Robin Brown who have over 27 years' experience of offering guests unforgettable luxurious short breaks.

"Many local guests come to stay here. It is often couples who leave their children with a relative, safe in the knowledge they are not far from home," said Joan.

"We also have couples who just want a night away without having to travel far, and they usually say the next morning how relaxed they feel."

Mother's Day proved the perfect opportunity for me and my mum to sample the treats of this delightful hideaway, around five miles south of Worksop, and it would not look out of place in the Cotswolds.

After receiving a warm welcome from Joan, we set up home in two of the venue's three lodges, which all offer the same luxury accommodation, while each maintaining their own personality.

We learnt our rooms used to be the cow and pig sheds, but their origins couldn't be further from the present, with the homely antique furniture, extravagant furnishings and four poster beds fit for a queen – or king.

After a stress-free night's sleep, we took our seats in the main cottage for a hearty breakfast, which was accompanied by Joan's trademark service.

My only complaint about breakfast was that it marked the end of a perfect and relaxing stay, that was just a short drive from home but miles away from the stresses of everyday life.

The five-star gold-rated Browns draws a wide clientele base from Creswell to Canada, and also offers a unique package called 'Make That Special Day Last Longer' for families celebrating special occasions.
