A Message from the Potty Players
A CUCKNEY amateur theatre group is to put on their second production later this month.
The Potty Players, a group formed from 16 residents aged 16 to 65, will be performing Message, a tale of a loan sharks, love affairs and circus hijinks carrying a message to live for today.
Writer Jo Rixon said the support for the group, which originally began from several residents protesting the closure of Cuckney Post Office, and later putting on events for charity.
”It’s been phenomenal really, the response we’ve had,” she said. ”We’ve already sold 700 tickets.”
”We’ve even got a likelike elephant in the production with flapping ears - the circus have said they want it!”
Jo’s daughter Georgina has been choreographing the performers for the new production, and the cast even had help from Brussels International Circus, who gave lessons in circus performance.
One of the younger residents, Grace Oxley, 14, will be performing various trapeze stunts, which she learnt from scratch for the production.
Message is a smaller affair than previous piece ‘Almost A Panto’, which featured a 42-person cast, though with professional sound and lighting and an original score - not to mention the circus stunts - is set to make an impressive impact.
Message will be held at the Lady Margaret Hall at 7pm from tonight through to this Saturday at 7.15pm, with a matinee on Sunday 18th October at 2.15pm.
Profits will be donated to the Air Ambulance and local charities, but tickets are moving fast with only three left at the time of writing.
Tickets cost 5 for ground floor seating, and 10 for a balcony seat.
