My dim view of light plan

I’VE had an idea for my latest business venture.

I’m going to open a torch shop. They’ll be flying off the shelves once Notts County Council turn off the streetlights around Worksop to save a few pennies and thus plunge the area into total darkness.

In the huge list of bad county council ideas, this one is right up there.

All it will do is make the vulnerable feel more vulnerable, make the roads more dangerous, and make life easier for burglars.

The county council might think everyone is safely tucked up in bed between midnight and 5am, but this isn’t the case.

There are shift workers who come and go at all sorts of hours, not to mention those trying to make their way home from nights out.

Less light will mean more shadows for burglars and other such nefarious rogues to lurk in.

I bet the cops aren’t happy about this. This will only serve to make their job even harder than it already is.

Local residents have until 29th February to have their say on the matter - speak out now while you have the chance.
