Chairman appointed:
Parish councillor John Dunn has been appointed as chairman of Everton Parish Council for the next year. David Bardsley the outgoing chairman has been appointed as vice-chairman.
Tunnel Tech invited to meet parish councillors:
After failing to elicit any information from Bassetlaw Council about progress to eliminate odours from the mushroom compost making factory run by Tunnel Tech (North) Ltd at Newington, Everton Parish Council has invited the company to send a representative to the June or July parish council meeting to outline what the company is doing to resolve the problem.
Odours from the factory affect residents of both Harwell and Everton and the parish council has been calling on Bassetlaw Council to take action for the past 12 months.
The district council, as the regulators of the process carried on by Tunnel Tech has issued the company with an enforcement notice requiring the company to install forced aeration into its process which it is hoped will significantly reduce the problems of odour.
Forced aeration should have been installed by 1st March 2007 but the company now has until 1st July to complete the installation.
Other parish councils, including Misson and Bawtry, have regularly complained about the odours and Bassetlaw Council is making fortnightly reports to the Department of the Environment in London about the situation.
Neither the company nor Bassetlaw Council will guarantee that the method will be successful and Everton Parish Council is seeking reassurance that some progress will be made.
