More folks and blues at the Phoenix: Another popular evening of Folks and Blues will be held at the Phoenix Theatre, Station Road, Bawtry on Friday 21st November at 7.45pm when Clarty Sough, the award winning Lincolnshire trio of Jim, Geoff and Keith, will be singing the History of our Islands from their own inimitable perspective. Helen Orford the Isle of Axholme harpist is making a welcome return to the Phoenix and Best of Intentions will be comparing the evening. Christmas window competition: The Bawtry Town Council sponsored Best Christmas Window competition for businesses in Bawtry will be judged on Monday 15th December by Mr. Attwood and Mr. Renshaw-Smith of Excel Parking, who run the Market Place car park and provide the trophy for the competition. A presentation to the winner of the best window display will be made in January, with a certificate for the runner-up.
No increase in sports field rents: The recreation committee of Bawtry Town Council has recommended that the rent charged to sports club for using the facilities at Bawtry's Memorial Sports Ground should not be increased next year and should remain at the 375 charged for the current year. Each of the four clubs which use the ground also has to pay its share of the utility costs.

Action on parish plan: Misson Parish Plan, which has recently been published after extensive consultation with residents, identifies six strategic aims for the village over the next 10 years. Actions to progress each of those areas have been identified and the parish council now wants volunteers to come forward to take the plan forward. Volunteers working together with parish councillor Miles Bentley have already started work on the environmental issues and other parish councillors hope to form volunteer groups in the near future.

Everton's good neighbour wins award: Everton resident Ann Hickman's community spirit has been recognised with the Good Neighbour Award in the BBC Radio Nottingham Reach Out Awards for 2008. Ann was nominated for the award by Everton Parish Council chairman John Dunn for the daily support she gives to several elderly and infirm neighbours and she is always on hand when they need help with shopping or just for a chat. Coun Dunn said: "Her actions allow those who would otherwise be housebound be active members of the community and she thoroughly deserve s this award for all the selfless community work she carries out in the village."

Village Memorial Service: Misterton residents took their place around the village's war memorial on Sunday to remember those who lost their lives in the two world wars. The names of the fallen were read and tributes paid to the many who had sacrificed their lives for our freedom and the traditional two minutes' silence was observed.
Citizen of the Year: Misterton Parish Council is seeking nominations for its Citizen of the Year awards. There are two awards: one for those over 18 and one for under 18s. They are given to recognise those who have made a special contribution to village life during the year. Nominations should be sent to the clerk to the parish council at the Misterton Centre by 31st December 2008 and the awards will be made in May 2009. Nominations must include the name, address and age of your nominee plus 50 words on what they have done to deserve an award.
Christmas Bazaar: There will be a Christmas Bazaar in Misterton Methodist Church Hall on Saturday 22nd November between 11am and 1pm.
