Ann Bateman : Obituary
MRS A. BATEMAN (of Worksop) A service, conducted by Rev Martin Alvey at Christ Church, Thievesdale Lane, preceded burial at the town’s Retford Road Cemetery of life-long local resident Mrs Ann Bateman (nee Ridley), of Woodland Drive, Worksop. She was a pupil at St Anne’s, Newcastle Street also Central Schools. On leaving she worked at Davis and Cheetham for a couple of years then Worksop Laundry. Following that, but just for a few months, she was a Clipper on the buses. Ann was a market trader in babywear for 25-30 years in both Worksop and Retford. For around 15 years she also ran her own shop called Baby Corner on Castle Market in Sheffield. Ann loved spending time with her family and friends, she loved gardening and also enjoyed going to bingo and dancing. She enjoyed holidays both in the UK and abroad, in recent years she would go for a few weeks at a time twice a year. Most weekends she would go to Cleethorpes where she owned a chalet. Ann, who passed away at home, leaves her husband Dennis, daughter Denise and son-in-law Chris, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
